Apple has unveiled the new features for HomeKit users with the launch of iOS 18, as announced in the WWDC24 developer conference. The update introduces a guest feature, allowing temporary control of smart accessories without needing to add the guest as a permanent user. Additionally, iOS 18 brings support for smart robotic vacuums and smart locks, expanding connectivity range. The guest feature in the Home app enables users to invite visitors with specified access to smart home devices, with preferences like door locks and alarm control. Users can easily revoke guest access when needed. Furthermore, Apple introduces support for Matter 1.2 standards in the Home app, enabling seamless control of robotic vacuums like the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. iOS 18 also enhances the user experience with smart door locks, allowing quick access via Apple Watch or iPhone with a focus on security.
